Swiss Steel Group, Canada Nickel Co. Form Green Steel Partnership
10/26/2026 - Swiss Steel Group announced it has entered a long-term partnership with Canada Nickel Co. Inc. for the supply of green semifinished steel products from Canada.
The companies said the partnership will provide Swiss Steel Group with low-carbon billets and blooms to be processed for specialty steel production. This includes exclusive access to about one million metric tons of semifinished steel products annually beginning in 2030.
“This intended partnership supports an important element of our strategy: focusing our own industrial footprint while securing flexible access to competitive, low-carbon pre-material,” said Frank Koch, chief executive officer of Swiss Steel Group.
Canada Nickel Co. said that it intends to use its subsidiary NetZero Metals to make the nickel-chromium magnetite concentrate from the mine into low-carbon semifinished stainless and specialty steel products.
