Tata Steel Organizes Activities for World Disability Day
12/06/2010 - Tata Steel Ltd. organized sporting events and cultural programs for special participants on the occasion of the World Disability Day 2010. Around 200 visually impaired, hearing impaired, and physically challenged children participated.
Tata Steel Ltd. organized sporting events and cultural programs for special participants on the occasion of the World Disability Day 2010 to acknowledge that these children are an equal and important part of the community.
The occasion was marked with celebrations by Tata Steel’s Urban Services department in association with local N.G.O's at Gopal Maidan, Jharkhand. Around 200 visually impaired, hearing impaired, and physically challenged children participated in the 19 sporting events and cultural celebrations.
Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS), Jharia Division in collaboration with LEPRA Society- SPARSH organized an Integrated Prevention for Disability Camp at Sparsh Centre. The objective of the camp was to demonstrate self-care and to distribute self-care kits, assess the disability of the patients, and select patients for reconstructive surgery. About 50 different cases of leprosy were present, comprising of neuritis, reaction and grade-11 types. Ten new cases were identified and were put under multi-drug therapy treatment.
