Tata Steel Reports Annual Production for Fiscal 2010-11

04/12/2011 - Tata Steel completed its fiscal year 2010-11 with an all-round increase over last year in its hot metal, crude steel, saleable steel production and sales.

Tata Steel completed its fiscal year 2010-11 with an all-round increase over last year in its hot metal, crude steel, saleable steel production and sales.
 
The company reported crude steel production of 6.855 million tonnes, exceeding the annual installed capacity of 6.8 million tonnes in the 2nd year after commissioning of the expansion project. Crude steel production for the year represents a 4.4% increase over the previous year.
 
The company also produced 7.503 million tonnes of hot metal, a 3.8% increase over the previous year; 6.691 million tonnes of saleable steel, a 3.9% increase over the previous year; and sales of 6.414 million tonnes., a 4.0% increase over the previous year.
 
The company’s G Blast Furnace achieved best-ever annual production of 2.11 million tonnes (previous best was 2.09 million tonnes in FY’10). Both the Steel Melt shops LD#2 and LD#1 achieved their best-ever production of 3.80 million tonnes (previous best was 3.71 million tonnes in FY’10) and 3.05 million tonnes (previous best was 2.85 million tonnes in FY’10), respectively.
 
The company’s Hot Strip Mill achieved its highest-ever production of 3.73 million tonnes (previous best was 3.65 million tonnes in FY’10). The new Bar Mill achieved its highest-ever production of 0.72 million tonnes (previous best was 0.67 million tonnes in FY’10). The company’s Merchant Mill achieved its highest-ever production of 0.37 million tonnes (previous best was 0.34 million tonnes in FY’10).  
 
The West Bokaro Division achieved its highest-ever clean coal production of 2.20 million tonnes (previous best was 2.14 million tonnes in FY’10), and the OMQ Division produced its highest ever iron ore tonnage of 13.55 million tonnes (previous best was 12.33 million tonnes in FY’10).
