Tenaris Restarts Heat Treatment, Finishing Operations

The company said it invested US$2.1 million to restart operations and will hire about 80 employees.

“Reopening the heat treatment and finishing lines in Koppel reinforces the strength of our domestic production capabilities for our customers across the U.S.,” said Guillermo Moreno, president of Tenaris US.

The Koppel location produces steel billets from an electric arc furnace for seamless pipe manufacturing. The billets are sent to Ambridge, Pa., to be rolled into seamless oil country tubular goods and then sent back to Koppel to be heat treated, finished, tested and inspected. The pipes are then threaded and undergo final inspection at the company’s Brookfield, Ohio, facility,  the company said.

“Koppel remains a cornerstone of our U.S. operations, allowing us to deliver high-quality steel products that support U.S. energy and industrial needs,” Moreno continued.
