Tenova Completes Commissioning of Termium Reheat Furnace

Following successful completion of the commissioning and testing period, TENOVA LOI Italimpianti has been awarded the final acceptance certificate for the recently installed Slab Reheat Furnace No. 5 at Ternium’s steel plant in San Nicolás, Argentina.

The new 300 tonne/hour walking beam reheat furnace, which incorporates latest-generation technology, features a combustion plant that combines reduced consumption, extremely low emissions, and high reheating quality. With the new plant, the rolling mill’s reheat capacity will rise from 400 to 700 tonnes/hour, allowing production to be nearly doubled.

The contract for engineering work and supply of the advanced technology plant components, which was completed on schedule, was initially awarded to the former Techint Technologies Furnaces Business Unit based in Genoa (Italy), which is now Tenova LOI Italimpianti. The contract also covered support for plant installation, testing, start-up, and related services.

The furnace is integrated with four existing pusher furnaces, helping to guarantee full coverage of production capacity together with significantly higher quality, reliability and flexibility.
