Tenova Re Energy to Supply EAF Irecovery System for Feralpi Siderurgica
01/20/2012 - Feralpi Siderurgica has contracted Tenova Re Energy to supply an EAF iRecovery system for its Elbe Stahlwerke Feralpi GmbH facility in Riesa, Germany.
Feralpi Siderurgica has signed a contract with Tenova Re Energy, part of the Tenova network, to supply an EAF iRecovery® system for its Elbe Stahlwerke Feralpi GmbH facility in Riesa, Germany.
With Tenova’s EAF iRecovery system, energy recovered from the EAF is converted into steam. Part of the steam is sold to a local energy carrier, and part of the steam is fed to an ORC turbine generating 2.5 MW of electrical energy. This is the first application in which superheated steam will be generated from an EAF.
“Up to 20 MW from the off gas of the existing EAF will be recovered turning the Feralpi EAF into the probably most energy efficient EAF worldwide,” explained Ralf Granderath, CEO of Tenova Re Energy.
Installation of the EAF iRecovery system for Feralpi Siderurgica’s Elbe Stahlwerke Feralpi follows the successful operation of an initial iRecovery® operating installed on the company’s 140-tonne EAF in GMH since 2009.
Tenova’s iRecovery system is part of the company’s iSteel® solution package designed to increase productivity, optimize energy consumption and reduce transformation costs. The iRecovery plant in Elbe Stahlwerke Feralpi GmbH, Riesa is to be commissioned early 2013.
Tenova Re Energy is Tenova’s center of excellence for heat recovery.
Tenova designs and supplies advanced technologies, products and services for the metal and mining industries, operating close to its customers through a network of more than 30 companies based on the five continents.
