Ternium, Vale to Partner on Decarbonization Solutions
08/23/2021 - The companies have signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of solutions to reduce CO2 emissions, Ternium announced in a press release.
Ternium, a flat-rolled steel producer in Latin America, and Vale, a producer of iron ore, pellets and nickel, will conduct economic feasibility studies for investments in an iron ore briquetting plant and facilities to produce metallics with a low carbon footprint.
The strategy will assist Vale in achieving its goal of reducing its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 33% by 2030 and its Scope 3 emissions by 15% by 2035.
