thyssenkrupp Steel, Smart Steel Technologies Launch Intelligent Scheduling System
08/21/2025 - thyssenkrupp Steel has teamed up with Smart Steel Technologies to launch an intelligent scheduling system for its modernized production network in Duisburg, Germany.
The software solution’s network includes thyssenkrupp’s new continuous casting line No. 4, hot strip mill No. 4 and the slab storage facility. The system is automated, intelligent and has fast reactive scheduling. It will ensure highly efficient processes to provide high-quality products to customers, the companies said.
The project represents "a strong impetus for the digital future of the steel industry," said Stefan Kemmer and Christian Lang, project management at thyssenkrupp Steel, along with Falk-Florian Henrich, founder and chief executive officer of Smart Steel Technologies.
The companies said the SST Scheduling System was developed and tested in close collaboration before being used in production. Smart Steel Technologies will handle future maintenance and further development of the system.
