TPCO Orders Second 20-High Cold Rolling Mill from SMS Demag

TPCO Yuantong Stainless Steel Ware Corp., Ltd., P.R. China, has ordered a second 20-high cold rolling mill from SMS Demag AG, Germany.

The new 20-high cold rolling mill will process hot rolled 300 and 400 series stainless steel strip (annealed and pickled), meeting the highest requirements for strip surface quality. The MB 22B-53 series Monoblock mill will roll strip up to 1300 mm wide with a 6 mm maximum entry thickness down to a final thickness of 0.3 mm. Total installed drive power of 12,500 kW will facilitate a maximum rolling speed of 800 meters/minute.

SMS Demag’s scope of supply includes design and manufacture of the mechanical and electrical equipment as well as supervision of erection and commissioning.

The new mill — the next step in TPCO Yuantong’s expansion program — will increases the facility’s annual production capacity by an additional 80,000 tonnes of high quality stainless steel strip.
