U.S. Looks to Lower Canadian Steel, Automobile Tariffs
08/20/2026 - The U.S. and Canada are in negotiations looking to lower tariffs on Canadian steel, aluminum and automobiles, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The Wall Street Journal reported the trade plan would include lowering tariffs on steel and aluminum from 50% to 25%, while automobiles would see it lowering from 25% to 15%. Terms of the deal are still in progress.
U.S. President Donald Trump paused new tariffs until Friday while negotiations between the countries continue.
