U.S. Refuses Renewal of USMCA Unless Changes Are Made
07/01/2026 - The U.S. refused to renew the agreement between the U.S., Mexico and Canada (USMCA) after the USMCA Free Trade Commission met virtually today to conduct a joint review, said U.S. Ambassador Jamieson Greer in a statement.
While the U.S. refused to renew the agreement as it is, it will continue to meet with Mexico and Canada to address the agreement’s issues and its trade deficits with those countries. The USMCA will continue either until the issues are resolved or the termination in 10 years’ time, the statement read.
The U.S. and Mexico will meet the week of 20 July to continue the USMCA joint review.
