U. S. Steel Blast Furnace Once Again Making Hot Metal
10/11/2018 - Roughly four months after restarting the B furnace at its Granite City Works in Illinois, United States Steel Corporation has brought back up the facility’s A furnace.
“We are pleased to report the restart of the ‘A’ blast furnace at our Granite City Works facility,” a company spokeswoman told Fastmarkets AMM.
U. S. Steel announced plans to restart the A furnace in June, saying at the time that market conditions supported the restart. Both the A and B furnace have nameplate capacities of 1.2 million tons annually, according to AIST records.
