U.S. Steel Names Raw Materials Manager

May 24, 2004 — United States Steel Corp. announced the appointment of Karl F. Csensich to the position of General Manager—Raw Materials with responsibility for the company's raw materials supplies for domestic and European operations. In his new position, which is effective June 1, Csensich will report to John H. Goodish, Executive Vice President—Operations.

"With his broad international experience, Karl is the perfect choice to lead our efforts to ensure that United States Steel Corporation has dependable supplies of coal, coke, iron ore and scrap for our global steelmaking operations," Goodish said, "and Karl will be charged with making certain the company has access to a stable supply of the highest quality raw materials at the lowest possible cost."

Csensich began his career with U. S. Steel in 1971. He was promoted through a series of financial positions at Geneva Works (Utah) and various Pittsburgh facilities and was named comptroller of USX Engineers and Consultants, now UEC Technologies LLC, at the company's Pittsburgh headquarters in 1999. He served in that capacity until December 2000, when he was named Vice President of Accounting for U. S. Steel Kosice (USSK), a position he held until his promotion to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of USSK in June of 2003.
