U. S. Steel Property Holdings Acquires US$275 Million UPI Plant Property
01/08/2026 - United States Steel Property Holdings has acquired the former USS-POSCO Industries (UPI) site in Pittsburg, Ca., USA, for US$275 million, reported the East Bay Times.
The UPI plant was previously a 50-50 joint-venture between United States Steel Corporation and POSCO until U. S. Steel bought out POSCO’s shares. The facility produced cold-rolled sheets, galvanized sheets, tinplate and tin-free steel until it was indefinitely idled in December 2023.
The documents of the sale were filed on 29 December 2025 with the Contra Costa County Recorder’s Office, the East Bay Times reported.
The company has not yet revealed its plans for the idled UPI plant.
