While Unifab began in 1940 as Kalamazoo Coaches, it got its current name in 1951. For the first decade, it manufactured “Pony Cruiser” buses for customers in the U.S., Canada, Cruba, Brazil and Chile. As small bus demand declined, the company turned to custom metal fabrication and changed its name.

 “Reaching 75 years is an accomplishment that belongs to everyone who has been part of Unifab’s story. Our capabilities and the industries we serve have changed considerably over the years, but our focus on quality, service, and being a dependable partner for our customers has remained consistent,” said Matt Hill, president of Unifab. 

The company has evolved to also include engineering support, laser cutting, formed metal fabrication, welding, powder coating, assemble and packaging services. It has 35 employees who serve several various industries. 

 “What makes this milestone meaningful is knowing that generations of employees and customers helped build the company we have today. We’re proud of that history, and we’re excited about where Unifab goes from here,” Hill continued.
