USW Temporarily Extends Contracts While Bargaining Continues With U. S. Steel, Cleveland-Cliffs
09/01/2026 - The United Steelworkers (USW) announced it has extended the current contracts with United States Steel Corporation and Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. by 30 days while the union and companies continue to negotiate.
The agreements cover thousands of USW workers at both companies. The ongoing negotiations include wages, benefits, job security, health and safety, capital investments, and other issues.
“While negotiations continue, workers will remain on the job, producing high-quality products under the terms and conditions of the current agreements,” said Roxanne Brown, USW international president.
The union said negotiations will continue and updates are incoming.
