Vice President JD Vance Tours Nucor Steel–Berkeley

Saying that America has always been a country that builds things, Vance told more than 500 Nucor employees and guests that the Trump administration is reviving American manufacturing.

“I believe the golden age of American manufacturing started 100 days ago, and we’re building it right here at Nucor steel in South Carolina," Vance said. "The great American manufacturing has begun, and the world has started to take notice," he said.

Vance also told Berkeley employees that they should be proud of the work they do.

“I hope every single one of you, you feel a sense of pride, however small, because these are the products that actually make America work. These are the products that make our citizens’ lives better.”

Attendees also heard from Nucor chief executive officer Leon Topalian, who said the administration is working to enforce fair competition from overseas steel producers.

“We appreciate the actions the Trump administration has taken to fully reinstate the Section 232 steel tariffs that are helping level the playing field for our domestic steel producers,” Topalian said.
