voestalpine Signs Off on New Slab Caster
11/13/2018 - voestalpine has issued the final acceptance certificate on a new Danieli slab caster installed at its Linz works in Austria.
In an announcement, Danieli said it received the certificate after the caster completed a quick ramp-up.
“After 5 weeks the newly supplied caster was already producing on 5 shifts, and during the first 22 weeks covered almost all the contractual steel grades,” the company said in a statement.
The caster is being used to make electrical steels with silicon content greater than 2%, low- and ultralow-carbon steels, microalloyed structural steels and press hardening grades, among others.
