Volvo’s First Electric and Fossil-Free Steel Trucks Now in Production
11/16/2022 - The first of Volvo’s heavy-duty electric trucks, some of which are being built with fossil-free steel, have rolled off the assembly line, the company reports.
In a statement, Volvo Trucks said production of its electric 44-metric-ton trucks is underway, and some of those are being built with SSAB-made fossil-free steel in the frame in the rails.
“Our journey to net-zero emissions includes both making our vehicles fossil free in operation and over time fully replacing the material in our trucks with fossil-free and recycled alternatives,” says Jessica Sandström, senior vice president of product management at Volvo Trucks.
