WISCO Selects Primetals Technologies to Restructure CSP Mill
07/21/2026 - Primetals Technologies announced it will completely restructure Wuhan Iron and Steel Co. Ltd.’s (WISCO) CSP casting and rolling line into a conventional hot strip mill (HSM).
Primetals Technologies said the scope includes new equipment for the mill line and technological components. It will also supply level 1 and 2 automation with advanced process control models. They estimate the HSM will have a capacity of about 4.2 million metric tons annually.
The companies said the new HSM will be fed by conventional casters which can produce 230-mm slabs and reheated by two new walking beam furnaces. It will feature a single-stand reversing roughing mill with super heavy rolling force and two sets of heavy edgers. It will also have new crop shear and descaling units.
The finishing mill, laminar cooling section and downcoiler will also be upgraded.
