Wolong Electric America Unveils MD600Z Armored DC Motors
07/20/2026 - Wolong Electric America announced it has introduced the MD600Z line of armored DC motors to replace legacy MD600 machines in steel mills, metal forming lines and crane applications.
The company said the new motors combine the electrical design of the original MD600 series with MD800 mechanical and thermal enhancements. To mitigate concerns from companies that are hesitant to upgrade to MD800 designs, MD600Zs retain the original armature and field coil designs, making them electrically interchangeable while offering a reinforced, modernized motor.
The core of the motor has a reinforced “Z” frame developed for shovel crowd and rotary blast-hole drill drives in hazardous environments. Features include TREC coils in the main and commutating fields, a class H insulation system and interlocking, glass-banded commutator construction with Viton sealing. It also has various mechanical enhancements for operations in steel and crane environments, the company said.
