Yukon Produces Unprecedented Slab Thickness
03/03/2025 - Yukon Iron and Steel Group, a Chinese steelmaker, announced its success in producing 145-mm-thick slabs at its Danieli QSP-DUE plant in Yuxi.
An unprecedented thickness for a direct casting and rolling plant, the company said it was achieved by using a 152 mm funnel mold made by Danieli’s DySen caster.
“Increased slab thickness means improved overall strip quality thanks to a higher reduction ratio in the mill, and new possibilities in the application of the QSP-DUE process for the production of quality hot-rolled coils,” Danieli said.
