Zhongshou Special Steel Starts Up New Arvedi ESP Plant From Primetals Technologies
05/28/2026 - Primetals Technologies announced the new Arvedi endless strip production (ESP) plant it supplied to Zhongshou Special Steel in Luanzhou, China, has successfully produced its first coil.
The plant features a 130-mm-thick caster, four roughing stands and five finishing stands. It can produce grades ranging from low-carbon to high-strength low-alloy steels with gauges between 0.7 to 12.7 mm, the companies said.
“We have a clear target of holding a position as front runners in green steel production both on the domestic and international markets, while also being able to compete on markets protected by carbon border adjustment (CBAM) restrictions. The Arvedi ESP technology and its record-breaking low carbon footprint will be playing a key role for us in achieving this target,” said Zheng Ting Wen, chairman of Zhongshou Special Steel.
The facility is the eleventh Arvedi ESP plant in operation worldwide.
