AIS to Implement SteelPlanner for Erdemir Facilities
05/21/2009 - AIS and its local partner Siemens Turkey will implement the SteelPlanner solution covering sales, production planning, and scheduling at both of Erdemir’s operating facilities in Turkey.
Erdemir, Turkey, has entered a long-term collaboration with AIS for implementation of its SteelPlanner® solution in Erdemir’s sales and production environment. The project scope includes sales, operation planning, and master and detailed scheduling for all of Erdemir’s production sites.
AIS will collaborate with its local partner, Siemens Turkey, to implement the complete SteelPlanner APS solution on Erdemir’s production sites in Eregli and Iskenderun. The partners will implement sales forecasting and sales planning functions across both sites, and will implement capacity planning, master and unit scheduling to optimize each of the two sites.
Implementation of SteelPlanner is intended to help Erdemir keep its leading position in the Turkish steel market in the face of several current challenges including the booming Turkish steel market, looming competition, and coordination of operations at the two sites, which are separated by a distance of more than 1000 km.
The project started in May 2008 and will go on at both sites until 2010. Implementation will be managed by AIS with the help of Siemens Turkey for local support.
