AISI: July Steel Shipments Up 2.4% From June, Up 2.6% from Prior Year
09/09/2014 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of July 2014, U.S. steel mills shipped 8,492,744 tons.
This was a 2.4% increase from the 8,291,823 tons shipped in the previous month, June 2014, and a 2.6% increase from the 8,274,511 tons shipped in July 2013. Shipments year-to-date in 2014 are 57,269,890 tons, a 2.9% increase vs. 2013 shipments of 55,675,985 tons for seven months.
A comparison of July shipments to the previous month of June shows the following changes: hot rolled sheet, up 3.0%, cold rolled sheet, down 0.2% and hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, down 0.4%.
