AM/NS India Announces Executive Leadership Changes
03/27/2026 - ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AM/NS) India announced its current chief executive officer Dilip Oommen will retire on 30 June, with Amit Harlalka set to succeed him 1 July, while Oommen will remain with the company as a board member and take the role of vice chairman at ArcelorMittal India Private Ltd.
“A highly experienced steel industry executive, [Oommen] knew the operations inside-out, brought stability at a time of change, and played a critical role in helping establish trust as we built the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel brand in India,” said Aditya Mittal, chairman of AM/NS India and chief executive officer of ArcelorMittal.
Oommen served as the AM/NS India’s first chief executive officer, having been with the company for 22 years total. Harlalka most recently served as chief financial officer at AM/NS India.
“I have been supported by an excellent team including Amit, who is a strong leader with all the right credentials to lead the company during its next exciting phase of growth,” said Oommen.
“The potential of the company is enormous, and I will be focusing on ensuring we can meet all this potential, starting with our aspiration to be accident free. We have a great team of people who are excited and motivated by the unique opportunity they have to help build Atmanirbhar Bharat. We will have a lot to do, and I can’t wait to get started,” said Harlalka.
