April U.S. Steel Shipments Up 0.7% from March, YTD Shipments Down
06/17/2013 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of April 2013, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,978,531 tons of steel products, a 0.7% increase from the 7,922,265 tons shipped in the previous month, March 2013, and a 3.2% decrease from the 8,245,339 tons shipped in April 2012.
Shipments year-to-date (YTD) in 2013 are 31,547,910 tons, a 6.3% decrease vs. 2012 shipments of 33,663,439 tons for the first four months of the year.
A comparison of April shipments to the previous month of March shows the following changes: cold rolled sheet, up 10%, hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, up 5% and hot rolled sheet, down 4%.
