ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih Honored for 40-mm Rebar
08/18/2011 - ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih’s 40-mm-diameter rebar of А500С class has won the All-Ukrainian competition Best Domestic Good 2011 in the category of steel industry. The rebar is used for construction of earthquake-resistant structures such as bridges, dams, nuclear and hydropower plants.
ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih’s 40-mm-diameter rebar of А500С class has won the All-Ukrainian competition Best Domestic Good 2011 in the category of steel industry. Its products received the highest marks in new technology, environmental safety, sale in Ukraine and abroad, customer feedback, and positive feedback from mass media.
The 40-mm rebar is used for construction of earthquake-resistant structures such as bridges, dams, nuclear and hydropower plants. The rebar produced by ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih is used for the foundation of a new sarcophagus above the destroyed reactor 4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The company plans to supply 12,000 tonnes of rebar for the sarcophagus foundation.
Output of 40-mm rebar at ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih started in the second half of 2010. Now the plant is equipped by magneto-electric rollers (functioned as wire addition system) located after accelerated cooling lines. The magneto-electric rollers regulate rolling speed in thermo-traces and provide a given level of technical specifications in full-length of products.
In 2010, the plant produced 300 tonnes of 40-mm rebar. In 2011, the output is planned to increase to 1200 tonnes.
ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih won the All-Ukrainian competition Best Domestic Good in 2010 as well, for its die-rolled section that is implemented in construction of multistoried buildings and facilities such as stadiums in Kyiv and Lvov constructed for EURO 2012, an airport in Lvov, and a new terminal of Borispol airport in Kyiv.
