02/03/2012 - ArcelorMittal Ostrava held a commemorative event celebrating the 60 years that have passed since Stanislav Najvrt lit the first blast furnace in the presence of then-President of the Republic, Antonín Zápotocký.
ArcelorMittal Ostrava held a commemorative event celebrating the 60 years that have passed since Stanislav Najvrt, former employee of NHKG (today’s ArcelorMittal Ostrava), lit the first blast furnace in the presence of then-President of the Republic, Antonín Zápotocký.
Najvrt remembered the event together with representatives of ArcelorMittal at blast furnace no. 4. (Blast furnace no. 1 is no longer used; furnaces no. 2 and 4 are currently operated.)
After a visit to the furnaces, Najvrt together with two other former employees, Otakar Sládek and Antonín Berger, who worked at the construction of Nová huť, saw a few other selected shops. They were also able to see for the first time the new de-dusting technologies (bag filters worth a thousand million CZK at Sinter Plant North) and continuous casting technology.
The event concluded with a lunch.
