ArcelorMittal Ostrava has again been honored as best employer in the annual Sodexo Employer of the Region contest.
The Sodexo Employer of the Region award is a confirmation of the right selection of employer both for existing and potential employees. “The company can offer them good conditions for work and development of their skills plus attractive long-term prospects,” said Jan Rafaj, ArcelorMittal Ostrava HR Director.
“People are the most vital asset for the company development,” added Augustine Kochuparampil, CEO. “We see this award as an important indication we move in the right direction as far as the care for employees is concerned.”
Also as part of the competition, ArcelorMittal Ostrava’s corporate “Minigrants” were selected as the best project. “These are small projects focused on environmental, social and leisure activities,” explained Rafaj. “They are submitted by our employees who can thus raise finance for non-profit organizations with whom they work.” The Minigrants gave evidence to the special attention the company pays to internal communication and social responsibility.
Evaluation criteria for Employer of the Region are extensive. “The jury assessed especially the labor force, financial indices, remuneration and benefits. It addressed also the recruitment system, employee education and development, talent management and working hours. In addition, the sickness rate, services for employees, occupational safety and personal protective equipment, absence rate, employee engagement, outstanding achievements in HR domain, communication and corporate responsibility were analyzed. It was not easy to succeed in so many fields, in so tough competition and with the new evaluation methods,” said Rafaj.
Apart from above-standard wages, ArcelorMittal Ostrava offers many benefits guaranteed by the Collective Agreement. “Our employees can also benefit from a number of development programs such as five-level program for talents including a program for talented blue collar employees,” said the HR Director. He noted that employees can use also the career consulting service, modern employee performance evaluation system linked to the payroll system and numerous educational programs including company university and special academies. “We regularly analyze the motivation of our employees and act on the findings obtained,” added Rafaj.
