ATI's Richard Harshman to Address Attendees at AISTech

Richard J. Harshman, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Allegheny Technologies, Inc. (ATI), will present a keynote address entitled, “Specialty Metals: Creating Value Through Relentless Innovation in a Dynamic, Global Industry,” at the AIST President’s Award Breakfast on Tuesday, 7 May at 8 a.m. in the Spirit of Pittsburgh Ballroom at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Pittsburgh, Pa. Hosted by the AIST President, Kent D. Peaslee, the President’s Award Breakfast program will consist of the presentation of prestigious association-level awards, including AIST’s Steelmaker of the Year.
Richard J. Harshman became chairman, president and chief executive officer of Allegheny Technologies, Inc. (ATI) in May 2011. Previously, he served as ATI’s president and chief operating officer beginning in August 2010. Prior to that, Harshman served as executive vice president — finance and chief financial officer and a member of ATI’s Executive Management Committee from October 2003 to August 2010. Harshman, who has been with ATI for 34 years, was senior vice president — finance and chief financial officer from December 2001 to October 2003. From December 2000 to December 2001, he was vice president — finance and chief financial officer. Harshman began his career with Teledyne Inc. in 1978 and served in positions of increasing responsibility at both the corporate and operating unit levels until being named ATI’s CFO in December 2000. Harshman was named a Best CFO Award recipient in 2008 by Institutional Investors, and 2008 CFO of the Year (public company category) by the Pittsburgh Business Times. Harshman is vice chairman of the board of trustees at Robert Morris University, and a member of the Chairman’s Council of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. He holds a B.S. degree from Robert Morris University (1978) and is a Certified Public Accountant (1985).

The President’s Award Breakfast is one of the signature events of AISTech 2013, North America’s largest gathering of steel industry personnel. AISTech 2013 will be held 6–9 May at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Pittsburgh, Pa., and will offer a program with hundreds of technical presentations, an expansive exposition, plant tours, a unique town hall forum and keynote presentations by today’s business leaders.
