Feb. 2007 — Baoshan Iron and Steel Co. Ltd., China, successfully commissioned its new ladle furnace, which had been supplied by SMS Demag AG, Germany. Equipped with a with a transformer capacity of 45 MVA, the 300-tonne ladle furnace is installed at Baoshan’s Shanghai operations.

SMS Demag’s scope of supply covered the basic and detail engineering for the technological core components, as well as the delivery of these components. In addition to spare parts, SMS Demag’s scope of supply also included services for erection and commissioning.

The new ladle furnace will make possible the production of high-quality steel grades.
