Parsytec AG has closed a cooperation contract with Shanghai Baosteel Group Corp. The contract kicks off with an initial order for espresso SI to be installed at a pickling line in Shanghai plus an option for 9 additional systems.
Baoshan Iron & Steel entered into the Surface Inspection System (SIS) cooperation project with Parsytec as part of its effort to reinforce its market competency in the face of high market competition. The cooperation contract highlights cooperation of software aspects, from defect recognition to yield management applications.
The first SIS project involves the installation, integration, customization, and maintenance of Parsytec’s surface inspection systems espresso SI as well as the respective software in Baosteel’s cold rolling mills. Parsytec will equip Baosteel’s Pickling Line No. 2030 with an inspection system featuring digital GigE cameras in a bright dark-field sensor configuration.
This surface inspection system is the first of 9 additional systems that Parsytec will install within the scope of this project. Prior to this installation, Baosteel was operating five previously installed surface inspection systems by Parsytec.
With an annual production capacity of over 20 million tons, Baoshan Iron & Steel Co. is the fifth largest producer in the world.
