Baosteel Launches High-Grade Wire-Product Joint Research Center

05/31/2012 - Baosteel officially inaugurated its high-grade wire-products Joint Research Center, established by its tube pipe and bar business unit, Baosteel Research Institute, and Baosteel Metal. It expects the new research center to accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into new products.

Li Haiping, Executive Deputy Director of Baosteel Group Planning Committee; Jiang Licheng, deputy general manager of Baosteel and general manager of tube pipe and bar business unit; and Jia Yanlin, chairman of Baosteel Metal, attended the opening ceremony.
 
Baosteel Metal, the tube pipe and bar business unit, and Baosteel Research Institute have carried out a series of close and fruitful joint research and development projects. With the newly established Joint Research Center, the three units will integrate their respective resource advantages and carry out concentrated efforts on new products and technologies, and resolve key technical problems on the production and usage of new wire products.
 
Baosteel expects the new research center will accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into new products.
 
In the future, joint research of 10 projects in four major categories will be carried out in terms of product improvement, new product development, and key product breakthroughs within the field. Joint R&D will focus closely around the wire product varieties promoted by Baosteel Metal, including cutting steel wire, steel cord, spring steel, bridge steel wire, and cold heading wire product, emphasizing the development of consistent manufacturing and product processing technology research.
