BSP Awarded as Best Integrated Steel Plant
02/18/2010 - Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), the flagship unit of Steel Authority of India Ltd., has received the Prime Minister’s Trophy for emerging as the best-performing steel plant in the country for the years 2006-07 and 2007-08.
Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), the flagship unit of Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL), has received the Prime Minister’s Trophy for emerging as the best-performing steel plant in the country for the years 2006-07 and 2007-08.
Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh presented the Trophy for Best Integrated Steel Plant in the country to SAIL Chairman S.K. Roongta and BSP Managing Director R. Ramaraju, in the presence of Union Minister for Steel Virbhadra Singh, Minister of State for Steel A. Sai Pratap, Secretary (Steel) Atul Chaturvedi, and Special Secretary B.S. Meena.
“I sincerely hope that our steel industry will live up to the expectations of our people. My very best wishes for the growth of this very vital industry of our economy,” said Singh on the occasion.
BSP was chosen as the winner both years for its excellence in production, techno-economics, R&D efforts and product development, human resource management, employee motivation, environment management, quality, and execution of its corporate social responsibilities.
SAIL notes that Bhilai is now the only steel plant in the country, public or private, to have been honored with the trophy nine out of the 16 times it has been awarded. It has earlier won the trophy for the years 1992-93, 1993-94, 1995-96, 1996-97, 1997-98, 2003-04, and 2004-05.
