Butting to Establish North American HQ, First U.S. Production Facility in Alabama
07/10/2025 - German stainless steel pipe manufacturer Butting announced plans to establish its North American headquarters and first U.S. production facility in Baldwin County, Alabama.
On Thursday morning, a formal project announcement was held in Loxley, Ala., with representatives from Butting, the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance, the City of Loxley, Baldwin County Commission and the Alabama Department of Commerce.
“Our decision to locate in Baldwin County was driven by the area’s overall attractiveness to live and work, a skilled labor force, proximity to key transportation routes and welcoming business environment,” said Adrian Rochofski, chief executive officer and managing director of Butting USA.
Part of a US$61 million growth project, the company’s plans have two strategic phases which will create an estimated 100 jobs with wages above Baldwin County’s average. The company said the Alabama facility will be constructed on a site with over 50 acres in the Loxley industrial corridor.
“This investment not only brings high-paying jobs to Loxley but also supports the growth of a German industry cluster that will generate long-term economic benefits across the region,” said Ellen McNair, secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce.
Phase 1 of the project will focus on establishing Butting’s North American headquarters, engineering functions, fabrication of stainless steel spools, components and cryogenic pipe systems.
Phase 2 will include vertical integration of the U.S. production operations. It will integrate two state-of-the-art stainless steel welded pipe mills, expansion of the cryogenic production portfolio and expanded fabrication capabilities, the company said.
“This is a historic project for our community, bringing new opportunities, long-term investment, and international recognition to our city and our people,” said Mayor of Loxley Richard Teal.
Butting has operations in Germany, Finland, Brazil, Canada, China and now the U.S.
The company expects the groundbreaking of Phase 1 in Fall 2025, with construction and hiring occurring in the next few weeks.
