China Steel, SMS Mevac Extend Partnership with Sixth RH Plant

China Steel Corp., Taiwan, has ordered a sixth RH plant from SMS Mevac, Germany.

China Steel will use the unit to produce, amongst other grades, ultra-low carbon steel for the automotive industry as well as non-grain oriented silicon steel for electrical sheets, e.g. for transformers.

SMS Mevac’s scope for the order comprises engineering, delivery of all plant components, erection and commissioning services as well as training of personnel.

The order follows SMS Mevac’s installation of a 250-tonne RH plant that China Steel will put into operation in the second quarter of 2012 at its Converter Plant No. 2. The projects further extend a successful ongoing partnership between China Steel and SMS Mevac.
