The new Danieli merchant bar mill was started up in November 2009 at Duferdofin-Nucor Giammoro, Sicily, and has been operating successfully since then.
The 20-stand high-speed continuous mill, made up entirely of SHS housingless stands, has a designed capacity of 700,000-tonnes per year of 8 to 25-mm-diameter deformed bars and a range of sections, rolled at rates of 100 tonnes per hour.
High-speed double twin channel (HTC) rolling technology is adopted for production of the smaller rebar sizes. Bar finishing facilities include a 90-m-long cooling bed fitted with water-spray-extra-cooling system, CCL-in-line straightening and continuous cut-to-length services, single-head magnetic stacker bundling and collecting facilities.
The company says that the process and the electrical and automation systems are guaranteed by the equipment supplied by Danieli Automation.
