Danieli Corus Commissions Blast Furnace for Bhushan Steel
05/11/2010 - Danieli Corus BV has successfully commissioned the Greenfield No. 1 Blast Furnace at the Meramandali steelmaking plant owned and operated by Bhushan Steel Ltd.
Danieli Corus BV from IJmuiden, The Netherlands, has successfully commissioned the Greenfield No. 1 Blast Furnace at the Meramandali steelmaking plant owned and operated by Bhushan Steel Ltd.
The 1681-m³ furnace was ignited on May 3, and hot metal production has been ramped up to 2000 tonnes per day. Danieli Corus notes that further ramping up will occur as soon as downstream plants are able to accept the hot metal produced.
Adding the ability to produce hot metal is key for the Meramandali plant to reach the goal of 2.3 million tonnes total annual capacity.
Danieli Corus says that Blast Furnace No. 1 was designed in full accordance with its design principles. It has designed similar furnaces for Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. and Jindal South West.
