Danieli Installs Seven-Life Side Guides on Hoa Phat Dung Quat’s QSP Line
06/30/2026 - Danieli announced it has successfully installed its seven-life hydraulic side guides on the quality strip production (QSP®) line at Hoa Phat Dung Quat Integrated Steel Complex’s works in Dung Quat, Vietnam.
The seven-life side guides system features fully hydraulic, force-controlled strip guidance with an automatic wear-disk design. It replaces fixed wear-plate side guides to reduce wear and manual maintenance. They also support improved strip centering at coiler entry, the companies said.
“With the new Rotary Side Guides system, the working surface of the worn part wore evenly thanks to the rotation mechanism. The lifespan of each side of the rotary disc reached about 6 weeks, with a total usage time of a part of at least 12 weeks at a rate of approx. 62,000 metric tons per week,” said Vi Thanh Trung, manager of QSP maintenance.
Since commissioning, Hoa Phat said the rotary side guides have offered more consistent strip guidance and improved coil shape while reducing material and labor maintenance costs.
“Since the introduction of Danieli’s Seven Life Side Guides, we have observed a clear improvement in the stability of the coiling process. Strip guidance is more consistent, especially during tail out, thus allow perfect coil shape,” said Cao Tien Ngoc, director of Hoa Phat Dung Quat QSP.
The companies said the QSP line has now produced over 16 million metric tons of hot-rolled coil.
