Danieli Rolling Mill in Operation at ESF
06/24/2025 - Elbe-Stahlwerke Feralpi (ESF) has successfully begun operations on its Danieli rolling mill, Walzwerk B, in Riesa, Germany.
The company said the mill is connected to an existing conticaster by a 300 m hot-charge roller table. Instead of traditional gas heating, it features induction heating for zero direct CO2 emissions. The mill is comprised of 16 housingless stands, a six-pass multidrive finishing black and a spooler line. The K-Spooler produces deformed bars from 8 to 25 mm diameter and twist-free spooled coils weighing from 2.5 to 8 metric tons.
ESF uses a Danieli K-Welder to perform endless rolling, reducing maintenance times down to 50% and increasing efficiency while reducing operating costs. Danieli Multistage Soft Quenching (SQ2) process allows for better and more uniform metallurgical characteristics compared to the recoiled process.
Danieli Automation date and artificial intelligence allows for real time connection between the existing caster and the new mill. This reduces heating energy consumption and regulates the thermomechanical process for better final product quality.
