Danieli is supplying key equipment and advanced technology for two independent high-speed wire rod mills, each with a capacity of 750,000 tonnes per year, under construction at Shangdong Laigang Yongfeng Steel Co, Ltd. for production of engineering and special steel wire rod in coils.
The two mills will produce 5.0 to 25.0-mm-diameter plain and 6.0 to 16.0-mm-diameter deformed wire rod, finished at up to 115 meters per second in coils weighing up to 2.3 tonnes, in a variety of steel grades including carbon structural, engineering, and special steel grades such as tire cord, cold heading, alloy structure, spring, and bearing qualities.
Danieli’s supply scope for each of the two lines includes a two-pass DWB pre-finishing miniblock and the high-speed finishing rolling line, which for wire rod mill #1 will include an eight-pass DWB plus four-pass TMB finishing blocks. Wire rod mill #2 will feature a 10-pass DWB finishing block.
Danieli will also supply the DSC controlled-cooling line and the oil-film-bearing-type loop layer with associated auxiliaries for both plants. Danieli Automation will supply the automation system for the two lines.
Startup is scheduled for the second and third quarters of 2010.
