Danieli to Provide Bloom and Billet Grinding Lines for Baosteel

Baosteel, P.R. China, has placed an order with Danieli Centro Mask to install a bloom-conditioning line that will increase the plant’s conditioning capacity to over 0.5 million tonnes/year. The new bloom-conditioning line will be installed downstream of the bloom caster.

The project follows a recent order for Danieli Centro Maskin to add a billet grinder to three existing Danieli Centro Maskin units originally supplied in 1998.

The two grinding units, both featuring 610- x 102- x 203-mm diameter grinding wheels, will be capable for processing 140- and 160-mm (9- to 14.6-m long), or 160- and 280-mm (3.5- to 10-m long) engineering steel billets or blooms, respectively.

Both lines are expected to be delivered early this summer, with the target of a complete startup before the end of 2007. They are being installed as part of the 1.0 million tonne/year steeelmaking plant ordered from Danieli Centro Met last year.
