Design Software Editors to Promote ArcelorMittal Construction Products
11/19/2007 - ArcelorMittal signs agreements with four leading editors of programs used in building and construction to include ArcelorMittal predesign software in their products, which will further promote the use of ArcelorMittal products and solutions by the construction industry.
ArcelorMittal has signed agreements with four leading editors of programs used in building and construction to include ArcelorMittal predesign software in their products. These partnerships, the first of their kind, will further promote the use of ArcelorMittal products and solutions by the construction industry.
The four editors—Nemetschek AG, Germany, and its subsidiary SCIA, Belgium, as well as Tekla Corp., Finland, Graitec, France, and Robobat, France—are leading editors of design software used internationally by building and construction professionals.
Agreements were negotiated and signed by ArcelorMittal’s Building and Construction Support, a global marketing platform of ArcelorMittal’s Steel Solutions and services, and the Research Center of its Long Carbon Europe division. The technologies involved, which seamlessly integrate computer-based design and materials calculation, will offer millions of architects and engineers over the world in-depth knowledge of both standard and niche products with respective solutions designed by ArcelorMittal, such as cellular beams, composite beams and floor systems. They will also grant access to ArcelorMittal software modules for the modeling, designing and detailing of structures.
ArcelorMittal and its software partners have also agreed to inform their respective customers on the integration of those pre-design software tools and to work out campaigns for cross promotion of the technologies. ArcelorMittal and its partners will share technology on design, cost estimation, and Eurocodes regulations.
ArcelorMittal expects these agreements to increase the use of steel in construction and generate added value for the entire steel branch. "These agreements are a fantastic opportunity to present ArcelorMittal’s range of products and solutions to the widely spread construction design and constructors communities," said Pierre Bourrier, head of ArcelorMittal’s Building and Construction Support.
