EDF to Deliver Nuclear Power to ArcelorMittal in France
01/06/2026 - ArcelorMittal announced it has signed a nuclear power production allocation contract (CAPN) with EDF to supply its sites in France for a period of 18 years.
“We welcome the signing of this nuclear power production allocation contract with EDF. This agreement will enable us to supply our French sites over the long term with low-carbon electricity, a key factor for the future competitiveness of our steel produced in France,” said Reiner Blaschek, chief executive officer of ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products.
The CAPN follows the letter of intent from January 2024. Under the agreement, EDF will give ArcelorMittal a share of the capacity of its operating nuclear fleet for 18 years.
“By supporting ArcelorMittal, a key player in steel production, we are contributing to the decarbonization of industry and to energy sovereignty,” said Béatrice Bigois, executive director in charge of the customer, services and territories division at EDF Group.
