Essar Steel to Set up Fifth Service Center in Bhuj
07/16/2009 - Essar Steel announces plans to set up a fifth service center in India at Bhuj, the company’s second such center in Gujarat state.
Essar Steel announced plans to set up its fifth service center in India at Bhuj, the company’s second such center in Gujarat state. With another center already operational at Hazira, Gujarat, Essar Steel has three more centers at Bahadurgarh, Chennai and Pune.
With an annual capacity of 200,000 tonnes, the new Bhuj Service Center will primarily cater to the requirements of clients in the auto and general engineering sectors in a town that is a fast growing steel consumer with current consumption levels at 1.5 million tonnes/year. It will also service the Essar Hypermarts located in northern Gujarat.

The new center is backed by Essar’s 4.6 million tonne/year Hazira Steel Plant, thus ensuring steady supplies and world-class quality.
The company said the new service center is in line with its stated objective of being closer to the customer. It will also enable company to offer customized products and small lots to users.
Slated for commissioning by March 2010, the new Bhuj service center will take the total aggregated annual capacity of the five centers to 2.7 million tonnes, helping Essar retain its leadership status in this segment.
