Global Steel Production Rose in May
06/21/2017 - The world's crude steel production rose to 143.3 million metric tons in May, an increase of 2% over the same month last year, according to World Steel Association figures.
According to the association, production was up 1.8% percent in China, but was flat in the U.S. and Japan.
Germany, Italy and Spain posted production declines, but production rose year-over-year in Brazil, Turkey and France.
The association set the world's capacity utilization at 71.8%, up from 71.3% in 2016.
