Here’s How One Automaker is Taking Advantage of New Ultrahigh-Strength Steels
03/08/2019 - For further evidence that the auto industry has embraced advanced steels, take a look at the 2019 Honda Passport, a five-seat SUV that was re-introduced to the market this year.
As the online Repairer Driven News notes, more than one-fifth of the vehicle’s body is made from ultrahigh-strength steel, including the door rings.
“Fully 61.5% of the body structure is composed of advanced materials, including the application of ultrahigh-strength steel to 21.3% of the body,” the publication said, citing Honda press material.
Repairer Driven News has a breakdown of the Passport’s materials choices here.
