Highveld Steel Commissions 2nd Danieli Ladle Furnace
03/01/2007 -
March 2007 — Highveld Steel, South Africa, recently commissioned a new 75-tonne ladle furnace.
Supplied by Danieli on a complete turnkey basis, the new ladle furnace is designed to optimize production and improve cleanliness of the liquid steel coming from the LD converter shop.
The new, inert-roof type ladle furnace includes an associated material handling system and water treatment plant. The new ladle furnace guarantees a minimum heating rate of 4.5° C/minute.
Danieli had supplied an initial ladle furnace of the same size in 1993 that has been operated successfully at the same plant since then.
