Hybar to Build US$1.1 Billion Scrap Metal Recycling Steel Rebar Mill

The company’s existing mill was completed nine months ago. The success of the first mill has led to the company wanting to double its rebar production capacity to about 1.3 million metric tons annually with a second mill.

“We have best-in-class technology, a great site with three modes of transportation and outstanding highly motivated employees. But what truly differentiates Hybar is our ‘can-do, get-it-done’ culture,” said Dave Stickler, chief executive officer of Hybar.

Hybar utilizes barge, rail and truck transportation to reach its customers within the U.S. Its rebar is used for projects including data centers, medical campus expansion, energy infrastructure, and the repair and upgrading of roads, bridges and tunnels.

Construction will take about 24 months, with SMS group supplying the new mill, the company said.
